IC 1396

IC1396 is an open cluster with associated nebulosity, located in the constellation of Cepheus, some 2400 light years away.

IC1396A, the Elephant's Trunk nebula, can be seen upper right in the image. It is an area of compressed interstellar gas & dust, that hides a number of proto stars.
